Up country under the spell of monsoon

LAHORE: The fresh spell of monsoon rains has started in different areas in the upper part of the country, immersing parts of cities receiving rain, Geo News reported Wednesday. Weather in Jhang and Mandi Bahauddin turned pleasant after the cities received shower along with thunderstorm. Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gojrah, Faisalabad and other surrounding areas also received rain, submerging parts of cities. The recent rain spell in Mardan, an area of Kheyber Pakhtunkhwa, brought relief to the people who were experiencing severe weather for the past month. Continuous rains in Tank and South Waziristan have blocked connecting roads of the area while rivers and drains are overflowing. Rains are likely to drench areas of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while other areas will continue to face hot and dry weather, met department said.
