Geo Pakistan

Geo Super is back!

Geo Super is back! KARACHI: The wait for sports’ fans is over. Geo Super, Pakistan’s first and only sports channel, is back on air after remaining shut for a period of over two months.

Today (Wednesday) marked the resumption of transmission of everyone’s favorite sports channel, which is not only known for bringing top international sporting events to Pakistan but also bringing to screens the action from local arena.

According to our correspondent in Lahore, the citizens danced to the thumping tunes of Dhol at Davis Road to celebrate Geo Super’s making a resounding coming back. Wearing Punjab’s colourful traditional clothes, the people let their excitement show by putting a Dhamal (Punjab’s traditional dance).

To celebrate the occasion, a cake was cut at Geo’s office in Karachi and sweets were also distributed among the members of Team Geo, whose fever pitch excitement made the whole event an unforgettable one.

It is pertinent to mention here that Geo Super was put off air on April 6, soon after the Cricket World Cup that ended on April 2. PEMRA had declared Geo Super a ‘security risk’ and ordered its closure.

Geo TV Network’s Administration had to approach the court against the harsh step of PEMRA taken at the behest of the government.

During trials, the High Court and then the Supreme Court declared the unwarranted step of PEMRA as illegal and ordered resumption of the transmission of Geo Super.

Consequently, the government issued the license to Geo Super, allowing it to air its transmission from Pakistan.
