SC to resume Bhutto reference today

SC to resume Bhutto reference today ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court will resume hearing of the presidential reference for the reopening of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto case on Wednesday, Geo News reported.

According to the details, eleven-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will hear the case.

Attorney general Maulvi Anwar ul Haq will begin his arguments in today’s hearing.

On Tuesday, Senator Babar Awan, counsel for the federation, continued his arguments before the bench and questioned how a judge who had become a complainant against Bhutto could have ever dispensed justice to him. Awan said not a single case could be proceeded with against Bhutto, except the murder case, in which prosecution against Bhutto was initiated while ignoring all evidence.

He contended that the due process of law was not observed, fundamental rights were violated and judges were not impartial but rather biased against Bhutto.

Chief Justice remarked that several questions are being raised during the hearing. He said court is trying to understand several things in the case.
