Badin declared calamity-hit

 Badin declared calamity-hit KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah Saturday declared Badin calamity-stricken after the recent downpour that wreaked havoc in the district, Geo News reported.

Meanwhile, the armed forces have started a rescue operation to shift to safer places the people stranded in different parts of district Badin.

Ten advanced boats of Pakistan Navy are also taking part in the rescue operation.

Aerial monitoring of the operation is also being conducted with the help of helicopters.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah also took a tour of relief camps set up in Badin.

Talking to media men, he said other worst affected areas would also be declared disaster-stricken as a result of the recent devastation caused by the recent rains.

He assured the affectees that they would get compensation for their rain-related losses and that the government would not leave them helpless in the current time of trial.
