According to initial reports the oil tankers came under attack near Dhadar Bypass.
Police said unknown militants opened fire at Nato tankers convoy killing a trucker as well as setting highly inflammable fuel aflame.
Tankers looked like a giant bonfire of burning metal after the incident, an eyewitness said.
Polce have cordoned off the area a launched an investigation.
This is the second attack on those Nato supply tankers, which were returned back to the port city Karachi, owing to a blockade imposed by Pakistan on Afghanistan-bound Nato supplies.
Earlier, armed gunmen commandeered two supply tankers near Qila Abdullah.
All these attacks are said to be a reaction to the unprovoked Nato attack on a Pakistani border outpost in Mohmand Agency, which killed 26 Pakistan Army troops.
