KARACHI: The fresh wave of violence has not deterred the youth of the metropolis from playing night cricket during Ramzan. Miscreants in the city have managed to throw trade and industry in disarray, but they have not dampened the sporting spirit of the youth.
Night cricket matches are being played all across the city which has become a tradition during the holy month of Ramzan. National cricketers are also participating in the inaugural Ramzan Night Cricket Tournament at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium which proves that fear can be overcome by sports.
Member of the Sindh Assembly and tournament organizer, Dr. Muhammed Ali Shah said that cricket could play a vital role in bringing people of different nationalities together. The traditional rush at the stadium during the inaugural match of the tournament was lackluster, however the fans present at the stadium were hopeful that as time passed things would improve.
Other night cricket tournaments have been arranged during the month of Ramzan, where participation of star cricketers will help draw in crowds, notwithstanding the mayhem in the city. |
