KARACHI: The 17th Tour de Pakistan Cycling Race has been postponed since Pakistan Sports Board has not yet issued a declaration in this regard, Geo News reported.
The race also known as the ‘longest race in Asia’, was to set to start from Karachi on March 23.
According to Secretary Pakistan Cycling Federation Syed Azhar Ali Shah, the race was put off owing to Pakistan Sports Board’s traditional red tape.
According to rules, the issuance of a declaration from the President of Pakistan was mandatory for the event to start.
Shah said that the new date would be announced after consultation with the Pakistan Sports Board.
Earlier, reports had it that the preparations for the event were in full swing and that cyclists from Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iran, South Africa, Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia were also expected soon.
Muhammad Sabir ofPakistan WAPDA had won the 16th Tour de Pakistan cycle race that concluded in Abbottabad last year.
