" Don 2 trailer released "

MUMBAI: Bollywood producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani unveiled the first look of their forthcoming sequel film 'Don 2: the Chase Continues’. Akhtar, who is also the director of the film, interacted with media on the occasion. He admitted that he was not in favour of a sequel to his earlier gangster film, 'Don: The chase begins again' but the incredible fascination he had for the character finally did him in. "A really fun, challenging, yet at the same time an extremely satisfying journey so far, to make this movie. I was guilty of saying that I probably won't do a sequel to Don when the first one was released. But my obsession with this character got the better of me. And of course, with amazing help and support and almost a sharing of vision with Ritesh and with Shahrukh Khan, and the rest of the team, we are here today and showing you the trailer and I hope that you do enjoy the film and do watch it," Akhtar added. When asked about the decision to release the film in 3D computer graphics, Akhtar said that it was not pre-determined, and was decided much later after many brainstorming sessions with the cast and producers of the film.  Dominant India whitewash England

 KOLKATA: World champions India brushed aside England by 95 runs in the fifth and final one-day international in Kolkata on Tuesday to sweep the series 5-0.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni smashed an unbeaten 75 off 69 balls to power India to 271-8 after the hosts were sent in to bat by England captain Alastair Cook at the Eden Gardens.

Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja then grabbed 4-33 and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin claimed 3-28 as England were shot out for 176 in 37 overs after a promising start in the day-night match.

The whitewash made partial amends for the disastrous tour of England in July-September, when India were routed 4-0 in the Test series to lose the world number one ranking and were blanked 3-0 in the one-dayers.

India swept the series despite the absence of seven players, including star batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who were part of the team that won the World Cup final against Sri Lanka in Mumbai in April.

India have beaten England in 16 of their last 18 one-day internationals at home, losing one and tying the other during the World Cup earlier this year.

India were reduced to 123-4 before Dhoni hit his way out of trouble, pounding four sixes and three boundaries, to help the hosts put up a challenging total on a sluggish wicket.

The late flourish led by the captain saw India plunder 84 runs in the last eight overs, including 39 off the final 12 balls.

Left-arm seamer Samit Patel claimed three for 57, while fast bowler Steven Finn took 2-47.

Cook and Craig Kieswetter provided the best start for the tourists in the series as they put on 129 for the first wicket by the 21st over.

Both hit half-centuries before India grabbed five wickets for 12 runs to reduce England to 141-5 in the 26th over.

Fast bowler Varun Aaron triggered the collapse by bowling Cook for 60, while Kieswetter was leg-before to Jadeja for 63.

Ian Bell, making his first appearance in the series in place of the injured Kevin Pietersen, had made two when he was caught behind by Dhoni off Ashwin.

Jadeja then removed the two Jonathans, Trott and Bairstow, in eight balls to open up the lower order.

Ravi Bopara was bowled by Suresh Raina round his wickets and Tim Bresnan holed out against part-time spinner Manoj Tiwary.

The rivals will return to the Eden Gardens on Saturday for a one-off Twenty20 international before England return home.

 " Salman, Katrina safe in Turkey "

 MUMBAI: Actors Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, who are in Turkey shooting for Kabir Khan's film 'Ek Tha Tiger', are safe.

A source close to the unit said, "They are shooting in Istanbul which is far away from Van, which has been hit by a massive earthquake."

Salman Khan, who was in India for two days to shoot for Bigg Boss, landed on the morning the quake-hit Turkey. Kabir Khan, who earlier tweeted, "Every city has its own energy and character and I love capturing that.''

Salman will be shooting in Turkey for nearly a month and then flies to Iraq to shoot for the same film. A source said,

"Some portions of the film will be shot in the northern border of Iraq and some other middle east countries.''

'Ek Tha Tiger', which will be Salman's next Eid release is a spy thriller shot in five countries. A source said, "One will get to see a different kind of action not like Bodyguard or Dabanng. It is on the lines of Bourne Identity."

More evidence that coffee cuts skin cancer risk

WASHINGTON: More evidence that coffee, particularly among female drinkers, has a positive effect against the most common form of skin cancer worldwide was released Monday at a major US medical conference. Women who drank more than three cups per day of caffeinated coffee saw a 20 percent lower risk of getting basal cell carcinoma (BCC), a slow-growing form of cancer, than those who drank less than a cup per month. Men who drank the same amount saw a nine percent lower risk, said the research presented at the 10th American Association for Cancer Research International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research in Boston. "Given the nearly one million new cases of BCC diagnosed each year in the United States, daily dietary factors with even small protective effects may have great public health impact," said researcher Fengju Song, a postdoctoral fellow in the department of dermatology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. "Our study indicates that coffee consumption may be an important option to help prevent BCC." The data was derived from the Nurses' Health Study (Brigham and Women's Hospital) and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study (Harvard School of Public Health). (AFP)

Baby and mother rescued 48 hours after Turkey quake

ERCIS: A two-week-old baby was pulled Tuesday from the debris of an earthquake in eastern Turkey that left at least 366 people dead, television stations reported. Rescuers also plucked the mother and grandmother of miracle baby Azra Karaduman from the rubble of Turkey's earthquake. The mother Seniha Karaduman has no life-threathening injuries but needed food and water, rescuers said. (AFP)

"Begum Nusrat Bhutto laid to rest in Garhi Khuda Bux"

LARKANA: Begum Nusrat Bhutto has been laid to rest at Garhi Khuda Bux, Geo News reported. The former first lady was buried in the Bhutto family graveyard alongside her husband Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Begum Nusrat’s funeral prayers were held at the Naudero house and attended by President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani, PPP co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto and other prominent politicians. Strict security arrangements were in place at Garhi Khuda Bux and the Bhutto family mausoleum had been sealed for the general public. Her Soyem will be held on Wednesday evening at the Naudero House. Begum Nusrat Bhutto passed away at the age of 82 in Dubai on October 23 and her body was brought back to Pakistan on Monday. Begum Nusrat Bhutto received a guard of honour at the Sukkur airport and earlier on Monday the acting President approved conferment of Nishan-e-Imtiaz award on the former first lady Begum Nusrat Bhutto. Begum Nusrat Bhutto waged almost a decade long political struggle for revival of democracy, restoration of Constitution and upholding of fundamental rights of the Pakistani people in the face of brutal dictatorship. She was born on September 21, 1929 in an Iranian family. He father was a wealthy Iranian businessman settled in Karachi. Begum Nusrat Bhutto met married Zulfiqar Bhutto in Karachi and was the first lady of Pakistan from 1973-77. In 1979, after the trial and execution of her husband, she and her daughters were imprisoned and placed under house arrest by the then regime of late dictator Zia-ul-Haq. However, due to health concerns she was later permitted to leave the country for London, where she was later joined by her daughters Benazir and Sanam. She became leader of the PPP during her London exile and although she was chairperson of the party for life, her daughter Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto later replaced her. After returning to Pakistan in the late 1980s, she served several terms as an MP to the National Assembly from the family constituency of Larkana in Sindh. Twice Begum Bhutto was elected member of the National Assembly, remained a senior minister and also a constant source of inspiration for her daughter former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, masses and PPP workers especially.
